Moore expressed his frustration, stating that the players have shown enough quality to put them in a better position, despite the recent struggles. The Valiants have managed just one win in their last seven League One matches. After the disappointing goalless draw with Carlisle United, Moore told the media:
“For me, it’s definitely a mental issue because physically the players are on it. I’ve got no concerns about their commitment and effort – I don’t think anyone is questioning that. The frustration comes from the fact that the players have shown enough quality to be in a better position.”
“I have full trust in them. They are a good group of players, and we need to stick together and keep getting into those positions. The more we do that, the more opportunities we’ll have to score. That was missing a bit today, but we’ll learn from it and be ready for the Boxing Day match.”
Moore added, “When I look at the caliber of players and the options we have, they’ve proven they can score goals over their careers. That’s why they’re here.”
He also noted that the opposition has started to adjust their tactics, sitting deep and packing the defense, which is a result of their own need for points. Moore took it as a compliment in a way, recognizing the impact of their current position, but emphasized that they need to find ways to break down these defensive strategies.
