Chelsea FC – Stamford Bridge
Stadium Info
Stamford Bridge has a capacity of just under 42,000, making it the smallest stadium among the current ‘big five’ clubs. Despite this, the owners have been heavily investing in the stadium’s redevelopment over the past 10-15 years, improving hotels, the megastore, offices, residential buildings, and three of the stands. However, space limitations may hinder further expansion, which could lead to the possibility of relocating the stadium. If Chelsea aims to stay competitive among the ‘big five,’ a stadium upgrade to match their ambition could be on the horizon.
Away Fans
Around 3,000 seats are allocated for visiting supporters, located in the south-east corner of the Shed End. For league games, away fans are split between the upper and lower tiers, while for cup matches, the entire lower tier is usually reserved. If demand is low, a smaller section in both tiers may be offered.
The stadium offers clear views from all areas, with no supporting pillars obstructing sightlines. There is ample legroom in the Shed, and refreshments are reasonably priced with facilities meeting the standards expected from one of England’s top clubs.

Where to Drink
Chelsea boasts the largest number of pubs within a mile of the stadium, offering plenty of options. However, avoid those directly opposite the ground due to heavy crowds. On King’s Road, you’ll find several away fan-friendly pubs, and Broudons outside Fulham Broadway is also a popular choice.
For food, there’s a Harry Ramsden’s fish and chip shop just outside the away end entrance.
Parking
Parking around Stamford Bridge is extremely limited. While football car parks charge upwards of £6 for the game, a cheaper option for evening or Sunday matches is to park about a mile away, past the residents-only area. Arriving 45-60 minutes before kick-off should ensure you find a spot around Waltham Green.
For more convenient and affordable parking, consider renting a local resident’s driveway through YourParkingSpace.co.uk.
By Train
The nearest train station to Stamford Bridge is West Brompton, an overground station about a 15-minute walk from the stadium. Exit the station, turn right, then take another right into Brompton Cemetery. Walk through the cemetery, and Stamford Bridge will be on your right. For evening games, after the cemetery, turn right onto Finborough Road and then right again onto Fulham Road.
The closest tube station is Fulham Broadway, located on the District Line. You can take a tube bound for Wimbledon or change at Earl’s Court on the District Line if needed.
