Jurgen Klopp Comments on Ibrahima Konate’s Red Card Against Arsenal
Liverpool faced Arsenal in an away Premier League match on Sunday, February 4, suffering a 3-1 defeat. Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard scored for Arsenal, while an own goal from Gabriel Magalhaes gave Liverpool their only score. Ibrahima Konate was sent off in the 88th minute after receiving two yellow cards, both for fouls on Kai Havertz.
After the game, Klopp spoke to Sky Sports, expressing frustration: “A lot of things went against us today. This referee [Anthony Taylor] gave me a red card against Man City for a similar situation between Bernardo Silva and Mo Salah. Today, the same thing happened with Jota, but no red card. Unbelievable.
“Havertz’s foul on Konate led to his first yellow card. Then Havertz goes down, and Konate gets another yellow. Gabriel does the same thing to Nunez, and there’s no yellow!
“We should have played better, but everything was against us. We lost the game, that’s a fact. The way it happened was strange.”
